Before you can secure a network, you have to
know how it's threatened. SAINT, or the Security Administrator's Integrated
Network Tool, uncovers areas of weakness and recommends fixes. With
SAINT™ vulnerability assessment tool, you can:
Detect and fix possible weaknesses in your
network’s security before they can be exploited by intruders.
Anticipate & prevent common system vulnerabilities.
Demonstrate compliance with current data privacy
regulations such as GLBA, HIPAA, and COPPA.
The SAINT™ scanning engine is the ideal cornerstone for your
vulnerability assessment program. SAINT™, features a graphical user
interface that is intuitive and easy to use.
SAINT's Features:
SAINTwriter™ software allows network
administrators to design and generate vulnerability assessment reports
quickly and easily. Customers can present the findings of even the
largest network scans in an easy-to-read format.
New threats to your networks can emerge in an instant. That's why
there's SAINTexpress®, which provides complete, automatic
updates to SAINT™ whenever a scan is run.

SAINTwriter™
software allows network administrators to design and generate vulnerability
assessment reports quickly and easily. Customers can present the findings
of even the largest network scans in an easy-to-read format.
This allows managers to see the big picture instantly and helps administrators
obtain detailed information for their security plans.
S AINTwriter™ generates
custom reports of a SAINT™ scan’s findings using charts, tables and
graphs. More than 100 configuration options allow administrators to
pinpoint the information they need and present it in the format they
want, whether they’re briefing company executives or working with
technical staff. In addition, SAINTwriter™ offers seven pre-configured
reports to make the process quick and
easy, saving hours of employee time.
What’s
more, SAINTwriter™ reports are exportable. Customers can transfer
scan findings and tables to spreadsheets and other applications, making
it simple to distribute results throughout your organization.
Trend
analysis capabilities make SAINTwriter™ an integral part of any
organization’s ongoing security maintenance plan. SAINTwriter™ reads
multiple sets of scan results from different points in time and analyzes
the results together. The result is a long-term perspective on your
security program’s improvements and weaknesses.
SAINTwriter™
also can export data to RiskWatch™, a risk-management software program.
This enhancement is part of the strategic partnership SAINT Corporation
has launched with RiskWatch Inc.

threats to your networks can emerge in an instant. That’s why there’s
SAINTexpress®, which provides complete, automatic updates to SAINT™
whenever a scan is run.
SAINT™
is updated every two weeks, or more often if necessary to address
a critical vulnerability announcement—often within 24 hours of the
announcement. Developers also continuously provide operational enhancements
to keep SAINT™ on the forefront of security assessment. SAINTexpress®
installs these updates and enhancements without requiring custome

Place
the SAINTexpress® plug-in directly in your SAINT™ directory. Every
time SAINT™ runs, it checks the SAINT™ corporate Web site for any
updates. If updates are present, SAINTexpress® installs them and SAINT™
continues to run as usual.
Experts praise the SAINT vulnerability scanner because it pinpoints
security risks accurately and comprehensively, yet it's simple to
use. The SAINT vulnerability scanner is the first step in detecting
network vulnerabilities. Here's how the SAINT vulnerability scanner
works:
SAINT™ screens every live system on a network
for TCP and UDP services (step 1). For each service it finds running,
it launches a set of probes designed to detect anything that could
allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access, create a denial-of-service,
or gain sensitive information about the network (step 2).
When vulnerabilities are detected (step 3),
SAINT vulnerability scanner categorizes the results in several ways,
allowing customers to target the data they find most useful (step
4). SAINT™ can group vulnerabilities according to severity, type,
or count. It also can provide information about a particular host
or group of hosts. SAINT™ describes each of the vulnerabilities it
locates, references Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures (CVE),
CERT advisories, and IAVA (Information Assurance Vulnerability
Alerts) and describes ways to correct the vulnerabilities. In many
cases, SAINT vulnerability scanner provides links where you can download
patches or new versions of software that will eliminate the detected
vulnerabilities.
